Suicide prevention therapy as related to life stage
The article below details the use of Constructivist Therapy to aid a college student with Depression and Suicidal Ideation. There is much debate in the clinical world regarding the effectiveness of Constructivist Therapies as opposed to Empiricist Psychotherapies regarding treatment and prevention of suicide. I will throw another thought into this debate and add that age is a factor to consider when choosing how you will approach a suicidal patient.
In this post, I will ask that you debate how effective you believe Constructivist Therapy would be on the following stages of life:
1. Childhood (0-17)
2. College age/ Early Career (18-34)
3. Middle Age/ Developed Career (35-64)
4. Retired/Older Adult (65-Death)
In your responses (should be four paragraphs or bullet points), please include at least 3 key terms from the chapter and back up your positions with content from the readings.
