The expectation is that you will produce a proposal between 8-10 double spaced pages in length, not including the bibliography and title page. This proposal will outline a relevant socio-legal research question and hypothesis, and then propose a method or set of methods to answer it. It can be on any topic you wish, so long as it is related in some way to the field of socio-legal studies. It can have a theoretical perspective, and empirical one, or both if you so choose. If the latter then make sure you describe why you think a given theoretical approach is best suited to analyzing a given empirical issue. The proposal should explain why this method or set of methods is the most appropriate to answer the socio-legal question. Finally, the proposal should conclude with a brief discussion on why this project is important and what you think answering it will contribute to the scholarly literature on the subject.
