You are required to do original analysis of survey data collect in2018 (or more than one if you talk to me first—there are multiple years). The survey cover a broad array of questions and issue areas witha particular focus on democracy. There is often multiple survey questions asking essentially the same thing; you’llwant to examine all the variants.For the website to consistently work, you need to use Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Google Chrome browsersWhile the LAPOP data will make the bulk of the project, you will need also to consult other sources do develop yourresearch question/argument. The paper requires a minimum of FOUR sources other than the LAPOP survey. Textsfrom the course do not count (ONE article from Blackboard is okay). At least THREE of the sources need to beacademic sources, not newspapers or other popular press places (i.e. The Economist, New Yorker, etc.).Your research question (and it should be a question, not a topic) should fall into one of the following categories:1.Socio-economic factors and political participation2.Causes of support for democracy3.The way people view democracy4.Social structure and democracyThese categories are intentionally broad. Your research question must be more specific.If you are interested in dealing with a question that does not fall into one of these categories, come see me and we’lldiscuss if it’s a feasible idea.The paper needs to be 5-8 pagesnot including tables or graphs. If you have a table that is½page, then the papermust be 5½pages long. Coversheets do not count.Pages must be double-spaced with 12-point (Times New Roman)font and 1-inch margins. Number and staple the pages. Make sure the paper has a thesis and you provide evidencesupporting your argument, but make sure to provide a balanced assessment of the situation.
