Sociological Imagination (SLO)

Prompt
Wright Mills defined the sociological imagination as the capacity for individuals to understand the relationship between their individual lives and the broad social forces that influence them. In other words, the sociological imagination helps people link their own individual biographies to the broader forces of social life: “Neither the life of an individual nor the history of a society can be understood without understanding both” (Mills 1959).
In this assignment, you will use this sociological imagination to analyze a situation that happened in your life and has had a huge impact on you.

MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE YOU CAN USE: I am a black female that got pulled over by a cop for the first time at the age of 18 and had a major panic attack, crying, and instantly called my dad to ensure my safety and stayed on the phone with him. All though I have never encountered cops at the point I was very afraid due to the larger social issues. I give you permission to add some details to the story to help shape your writing!
Use this personal experience as how larger social issues context shaped my descision making/reaction. I need TWO sources; think of statistics of black indivduals that get pulled over etc, or from a sociological point of view. JUST use TWO that support your stance in hand with this personal experience.
