“Rutger Bregman’s speech was very convincing and effective. He began his presentation with the question, Why do the poor make so many poor decisions? He then quoted Mrs. Thatcher’s conclusion that poverty is a personality flaw. In the main part, he then used the story of Dauphin in Canada to show that poverty is a lack of cash. In this town, after everyone had a basic income, people became richer and healthier. In the concluding section, Rutger Bregman uses humorous and direct language to urge people to change their worldview by changing their current poverty. I agree with Rutger Bregman’s point of view. Because in the main part Rutger Bregman provides relevant data and graphs. These data and charts effectively show that if everyone had a basic income, they would not only think about how to solve the problem of food but would invest more in other areas such as education and health care. So it was a successful speech.”
