The segments of the paper, which follow the outline DEADLINES BELOW.
Introduction and Description of the Problem (75 points) DUE 8/28/2021
You will use this section of the paper to introduce the problem or topic you plan to discuss, providing background information, and explaining why this topic is important and relevant and why it needs to be addressed. This section of the paper should be 2-3 pages in length, double-spaced.
Literature Review & Summary (75 points) DUE 9/4/2021
As you conduct your research and literature search in regard to your subject, you should come across articles and studies that further describe the issue, explain reasons for it, what others have experienced and why, what others have done to address this and whether it was helpful or not, etc. You will later use some of this information to help you identify possible solutions and plans for implementation.
For this section of the paper, write up a summary of the literature and research you have found that is most relevant to your topic and your particular issue. You should work to synthesize this material and show its relevance to your topic. This section of the paper should be 3-4 pages.
Guidelines for sources used:
There should be a minimum of ten sources referenced in your final paper, including a minimum of five peer-reviewed studies or journal articles.
These sources can include reliable and credible references that can be validated and verified. These should be valid, credible, academic-quality sources.
Do not cite or use Wikipedia, online magazine articles that are unsupported, or opinion pieces.
Seek to ensure that your literature is from primary sources. For example, if you are citing a source cited within a textbook or journal article, you should look for the original or primary source and cite this.
Do not use excessive quotes. Also, when you do quote material, you must properly cite with quotation marks; otherwise, it is considered plagiarism.
All sources should be properly formatted using APA formatting guidelines.
If you need help with your literature search, please use the TTUHSC library assistants. They are there to help!
After you’ve completed your Literature Review, your sources will likely change as you continue to work on your paper. You may add some and delete some that you end up finding irrelevant to your final paper.
Description of Proposed Solutions (75 points) DUE 9/4/2021
This section of the paper will include a description of potential solutions and/or your proposed solution. You may have covered some of the potential solutions in your literature review section. If so, you may want to focus more in this section on describing in more detail your proposed solution(s). Or, you can discuss various solutions and then explain what you propose and why. However you choose to do this section, you should present a clear explanation of what can be done to improve upon the issue and how it would do so. This section should be 3-4 pages.
Implementation (75 points) DUE 9/10/2021
In this final section (other than the conclusion summary paragraph), you should explain how the proposed solution would be implemented. If you are discussing a particular healthcare organization, describe the steps that would be taken to implement it, a potential theoretical timeline, who would be involved (titles of people, departments, etc.), data that would need to be collected to see if things have improved, and, how it would be monitored going forward to see if the intended results are achieved. Again, you can review the sample paper to see how this student successfully completed this part of her paper, with specific implementation plans for this theoretical hospital. This section should be 2-3 pages.
Draft Paper (200 points) DUE 9/26/2021
Once you have written all sections of your paper, submitted these to the writing center, and incorporated any feedback you’ve received from me or the writing center, you will put it all together into your first draft. You will also need to include a title page, an abstract, a conclusion, and reference page(s). The draft papers will be graded based upon the requirements of the final paper, explained previously in the Course Requirements section of the syllabus. Therefore, it is to your benefit, not only in regard to comments I will provide on your draft paper, but also in regard to your grade for this assignment, to have as complete and accurate a paper as possible for your draft. Please ensure that your papers are well-written and formatted properly. Poorly written or incomplete papers may be returned for revisions, with a deduction for subsequent late submission. The instructor SHOULD NOT be expected to correct grammatical and writing errors or APA errors. Students at this level should take it upon themselves to submit a well-written, well-organized, substantive paper meeting the requirements of the course! The instructor will make comments about the substance of the paper, organization of the paper, and proposed solutions and implementation.
