This unit we will be exploring the idea of stockholder vs. stakeholder and its subsequent effect on internal and external stakeholders.
A stockholder is a shareholder that has a vested financial interest in the company. A stakeholder has a much broader application and is anyone with an interest or concern in the business. An internal stakeholder references people within an organization. An external stakeholder references people that our outside an organization but are affected by the organizations performance.
You will do a deeper dive into stockholder vs. stakeholder and internal and external stakeholders investigating how both entities work together towards achieving goals.
Describe differences between stockholders and stakeholders.
Identify differences between internal stakeholders and external stakeholders.
Does your current work, school, or organizational affiliate managed by the stockholder or stakeholder approach? Is this appropriate? If you were in charge what approach would you take and why?
