It is VERY IMPORTANT that this assignment is writen from an Occupational Therapy perspective, and NOT from a physiotherapist, as they are different.
My lecturer suggested that within the stroke support group, I focus on Upper Limb interventions as it is clearly Occupational Therapy. There will be heaps of information about ways in which clients can increase their function in their Upper Limb following stroke. My lecturer also suggested that I could link to functional activity – e.g. “here’s some interventions that may help, but also keep in mind the more you use your upper limb in occupations (e.g. getting dressed, preparing meals etc.) then the more likely you will see improvements”.
My lecturer recommended that I focus on CIMT (constrained-induced movement therapy), task specific practice and functional capacity assessments.
To summarise, this assignment will require you to write a 10-minute script + a powerpoint presentation to go with it. All references to be added to the appropriate notes section of every slide. Thank you!
