Students should be allowed to use technology in the classroom

Specifically,
your assignment is to write a paper in the form of a public letter or editorial
that is addressed to and refutes one of the two readings from the text. As such
you will either argue in favor of allowing students to use technology in the
classroom (in which case you will refute, or argue against, Susan Dynarski) or
in opposition to allowing students to use such technology in the classroom (in
which case you will refute Clive Thompson). In addition to making the case for
your position, you will need to communicate a clear understanding of the author’s
original arguments, analyze both the content and the rhetoric of the argument,
and explain exactly what you find to be weak about the opposing argument. You
will also need to effectively incorporate information from the text(s) by
quoting and paraphrasing, citing your borrowings correctly, and fully
introducing each borrowing. Your
paper should be between 4 and 5 pages
long, double-spaced, typed in a 12-point font with one-inch margins. It
should include a descriptive title as well as an MLA-style heading and header
modeled on those on this assignment sheet. You
will need to quote from the source(s) in our textbook at least twice and
paraphrase at least one passage. Therefore,
you will also need to cite those sources in the text and include an MLA-style
works cited page that lists any texts you cite in your paper.
