In this class, you will be writing a complete research proposal on a communication topic/questions that interests you. So far, you have identified a few research questions that you want to pursue in your proposal. In this assignment, you will complete an annotated bibliography on the topic(s)/problems(s) addressed in your research questions.
For this assignment, you will construct an Annotated Bibliography based on the research questions you posed in Week 3. The annotations in this assignment will form the basis of your Literature Review and final proposal for this class.
Find at least 7 to 10 research journal articles (make sure they are peer-reviewed) that relate to your project’s research questions. Be certain they are research studies from scholarly, peer-reviewed academic research journals. Write a brief, one-paragraph summary of each article and also include a bibliography in APA format. Be sure to paraphrase each article in your own words. Do not use direct quotes or utilize material directly from the journal article abstract.
Some good questions to consider while working on your annotated bibliography are the following:
1. What was/were the research questions or hypotheses of the study?
2. What were the findings of the study?
3. What did you find interesting about the study?
4. What did you learn about your topic from this study?
5. How does this study relate to your research questions?
With your submission, please identify your Topic & Research Question(s) at the TOP of your document, and then subsequently provide your journal article annotations. Make sure your references list is formatted in APA format.
EXAMPLE:
Brophy, J. (1981). Teacher praise: A functional analysis. Review of Educational Research, 51(1), 5-32.
This article is another older literature survey of several different studies regarding the use of teacher praise as a reinforcer for effort and good behavior in classroom settings. The author reviews several studies and the then-current literature on the subject, concluding that praise is not always a concrete reinforcer or even an altogether helpful reinforcer in every situation. Praise is a much grayer form of teacher-student communication and can have many different unintended consequences. Praise is not always received as intended, or even given intentionally, and it does not always have the intended effects of a normal classroom reinforcer. Additionally, praise is most effective when given and received under certain conditions, and when the praise itself meets several specific criteria. In all other circumstances, praise can be unhelpful or even detrimental to the health, motivation, and success of the child.
