Introduction
Play isn’t all fun and games. It is an important tool for development. Through play kids learn to interact with others and develop interpersonal skills that will be beneficial throughout their life. Kids also can participate in types of play that have physiological, psychological and cognitive advantages.
The Prompt
Research the physiological, psychological, and social benefits of play. Include in your research the types of play children engage in from a cultural perspective (age, race, gender, ethnicity, global community, etc.) Use this information to make a case for the importance of play in child development.
You may use information from your reading assignments, videos, and other resources. When using information from the readings and/or other sources (e.g., the Internet, research articles, books), be sure to use appropriate citations and references.
