Research Essay
Research “The Ethics of Living Jim Crow: An Autobiographical Sketch” by Richard Wright, essay from: The Best American Essays of the Century edited by Joyce Carol Oates & coedited by Robert Atwan, (war, immigration, religion, race, class, or gender issues, etc.). You must make an original argument about that theme, and support it throughout your paper. To help support it, you may refer to our readings in the course as well as personal experience, and you must incorporate outside sources (you need at least THREE of these). Think of this paper as entering an ongoing conversation that you join for a moment. In doing so, you argue a position. Your approach is up to you, but your paper should have an introduction, a body, and a conclusion. Try to pick a topic you are interested in.
*This paper should be 5-7 pages long, double-spaced, 12 point font.
*This paper should have a thesis statement that you support throughout the entire paper.
*You also need to include at least THREE outside sources, cited properly (MLA format) in the text and on a Works Cited page. Only one source can be cited as an internet source (although you may find all your sources online, e.g. on databases that give you the info to cite as print sources)
