Society influences our personality traits and who we are. Using your Sociological Perspective, and the Symbolic Interactionism method (p.16) discuss how both your physical environment (URBS) and your mental environment (CIVITAS) have made you who you are today. Explain this cause/effect relationship, and give specific examples.
Think about the different places/cultures you have been exposed to over your lifetime, and which ones have the greatest influence on who you are today. Think about how your current neighborhood influences who you are in preparation for your final paper. We will discuss further in class.
My neighborhood is composed of a lot of teens/ adults who do nothing honest.
They smoke
They don’t like to work
They steal
They hurt
They are always there “day and nigh”
they know everyone, know me the girl in a hurry always, and always say good morning, good afternoon and good night
When death takes place no big deal because it was somehow expected and it is expected to happen to anyone living in that neighborhood.
The police are always walking around, inspecting without really doing anything meaningfull. I believe in God, and their behavior makes me fear, in the terms of not wanting their behavior to affect mine, making me lose interest in what I value as moral principle. Although studying them while staying away has only one purpose which is, protecting my spiritual health, nevertheless, it affects me in a way that i accurates to explain, but I can give details of the way it makes me behave, and think, and feel. Such, I struggle with social anxiety, Struggle to trust people I meet in any neighborhood I meet that looks like mine. I’m always scared, sometimes I get scared of everyone, and always forget to explain to my therapist because I don’t know how to explain that without looking like someone who is judgy when I’m just afraid of being the next victim of a community, my community in my neighborhood who will not like you doesn’t matter. Since they never hesitate to betray, take down their own friends for no reason. Then, they will be the first ones calling out the police for shooting a black person. Killing people is wrong, doesn’t matter the reason. But I don’t like so many in my community, the hypocrisy. I agree being black in America makes you unsafe, makes you the victim, but i were to draw a conclusion about my neighbor, it would be black people is its own enemy. Saying this makes me feel I’m betraying my community, but this is my observation from what I have noticed through the way, they pretend to have each other’s back as long as one isn’t progressing, trying to get out of a situation.
