For this assignment, you would develop an annotated Bibliography. An annotated bibliography is a reference list with a short summary after each source that explains the key points, why it is relevant to your argument, and how it relates to the other sources in your reference list. You will complete this assignment with the same problem you chose for your topic proposal. You will then use the sources you summarize in this assignment for the final writing assignment, the Problem/Solution Essay. The structure of this assignment is not an essay but rather a list of reference citations with summaries in paragraph format after each citation.
Your purpose is to help your targeted audience understand the various sources that you prepare, addressing:
The problem that you are researching.
The causes of the problem.
The effects of the problem specifically which people are affected?
Possible solutions to solve the problem. Focus on resources that are needed to develop and implement these solutions.
Requirements for each entry in the Annotated Bibliography
APA reference citation of each source.
Alphabetically order the sources according to the authors’ last name (A-Z). For example, entry with authors “Adams” should appear before an entry with the author “Zuri”.
Summary of the source:
Paraphrase and write in your own words. Do not simply copy and paste sentences.
Evaluation of the source:
How and where will this source be used? What “function” does this source perform? Why is it useful for your research? Is it a specific illustration of the cause(s) and/or effect(s) of the problem? Is it a possible solution to the problem? Is it a solution that you might argue for?
Connection to other sources:
How is this source similar to or different from other sources? What connections are there between sources A and B. Are they connected because they show different causes or effects of the problem? Are they connected because they all support the same solution? Are they connected because they provide different solutions with different evidence?
To summarize, each entry must contain:
