1. Using the Module Three assignment feedback, revise your introductory paragraph with the remarks written on your submission. Make any needed changes.
Review of Introductory Paragraph- three sentences only: Begin with a question. Give more information about the specific topic in the next sentence. End with your thesis statement. (State the specific topic, use a claim word, such as should, needs to, must, etc., and include the central points of each of the three body paragraphs shown on your plan.)
Example thesis statement: Because students’ reading levels have dropped steadily over the last decade, parents need to require reading time at home, model reading for both information and pleasure, and limit distractions.
2. ***Now write your first body paragraph by following your plan’s major and minor details.
Write a well-developed body paragraph of 7-8 sentences. Have a topic sentence as the first sentence of the paragraph. Connect your ideas by using transitions: first, next, in addition, also, for example, on the other hand, finally, etc. You will find additional examples at Purdue OWL.
** Revise to be sure you have at least one compound and one complex sentence in the body paragraph. Use third person point of view and eliminate contractions.
3. Add a concluding paragraph of three sentences. Sentence one should rephrase–new words– the approved thesis statement. Have summarizing information from the body in sentence two. End with a prediction or third person point of view question. How to write a concluding paragraph is covered in the Reading and Viewing Time of Module Four.
4. Read your writing aloud to find wording errors. Use grammar check and spell check. Submit under Module Four Evaluation.
