The New Deal is created to take the country out of the Great Depression, where there were no supporting mechanisms for the working people. It was a BIG deal in America because it redefined “The Purpose of Government” for all Americans. Rather than “Laizssez Faire” where the government was hands off, President Roosevelt immediately pushed legislation that would develop infrastructure, create National Parks, create Social Security, and the Minimum Wage to provide safety nets so people would not suffer as they did during the Great Depression. Today, right this moment, in our government, there is a new Infrastructure Plan on the table proposed by President Biden.
