The rent Moratorium

The coronavirus is a highly contagious virus that significantly impacted the world in 2020 and continues to impact the world today. Beyond contagion, health, and medical concerns, the coronavirus pandemic impacted employment, businesses, and the incomes of everyday citizens. In response to these concerns, the Federal government issued a period of rent relief for renters of housing. This rent relief was a temporary hold of sorts on renters being evicted from housing units for non-payment. A rent moratorium- but not a rent forgiveness.
original rent moratorium expired in July 2021, But after some contention, the moratorium was renewed shortly after through executive order. As of August 26, 2021, the U.S. Supreme Court has reversed this executive order.
