Thinking Through Diversity
The Topic:
There are many thoughts on what people think diversity means. Their ideas may be right or may be wrongly based on false information, confusion with other topics, etc. We are going to explore what people think diversity is as one of the starting points for this course.
Required:
Ask ten (10) students or coworkers who are not in this class to complete the following sentence: “Diversity is ____________”.
In your submission, include the following information:
• Record each of their responses. Include a brief description of the person that you feel may be relevant (age group, gender, occupation, etc.). Names are not necessary.
• What are the similarities in their responses?
• What are the differences in their responses?
• Do any of their responses reflect diversity myths? Explain.
To receive the highest grade possible, I need to see clear and complete evidence that: 1) Your responses are professional and polished, meaning a solid demonstration of critical thinking skills, 2) Your responses use proper grammar, mechanics, spelling, and formatting, 3) You successfully synthesize or effectively interpret/analyze the research obtained from your selected sources, 4) You completely responded to each of the bullets shown above.
