This assignment is a way to help guide your engagement with course lecture. Your notes should address the full lecture posted to Canvas. Please pause the lecture as you see fit to ensure that you get the proper notes. The notes do not have to be long, and you can write them in either complete sentences or phrases/ bullet points. You can type your notes directly into this dropbox or post a photo/ screenshot of them from a notebook, etc.
In general, I am looking for you to identify the main points and central takeaways of the lecture. Each lecture is aimed to enhance our understanding of Black Studies by discussing different historical events, key thinkers, and ongoing debates in the field. So your notes should reflect those different components. You might think of your notes as speaking to these overarching questions: How does this lecture help me understand the focus of Black Studies? What new people did I learn about? What time period does it concern? What are the issues under discussion and why do they matter?
Your notes should demonstrate your best understanding of the material as you read them. I am not looking for you to “get it right” but to show me what you took away from the reading. Your notes could also surface questions or confusions that you had about the lecture and might be good to discuss in class.
