This assignment relates to the following Course Learning Requirements:
CLR 1 Maintain payroll records for organizations.
CLR 2 Describe Canadian federal and provincial labour and employment standards as they apply to employers.
CLR 5 Compile and produce statutory filing documents as required by various stakeholders.
Objective of this Assignment: To explain the requirements for termination of employment.
For discussion:
In 150-500 words describe a situation where you or someone you know terminated from an organization (this could be because they left or were let go). Indicate at least one activity that was or was not completed in relation to the termination. If you don’t have a personal example advise one activity that needs to be completed for either a group or individual termination be sure to advise for what province and reference any relative legislation.
For example: My brother in law lost his job when the plant he worked at closed down. Because the plant was in Nova Scotia and they were letting go more than 300 people they were required to give the employees 16 weeks of notice which they did.
