To what extent is there action to address each of the three conditions (prison reform) and by whom?

Incarceration and U.S. Constitutional rights.
In recent years, much attention has been drawn to problematic policing/law enforcement practices around the country, the 2020 case of George Floyd’s murder by Officer Derek Chauvin being one of the most widely covered by the media. Although it hasn’t garnered as much publicity in the media, the U.S. corrections system has also been subject to criticism by sociologists and other scholars, human rights activists, and public officials. In this project you are expected to describe 3 aspects of the U.S. prison system that have been identified as inhumane or unconstitutional (notably with respect the 8th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which prohibits “cruel and unusual punishment.”) To what extent is there action to address each of the three conditions (prison reform) and by whom?

The paper must be typed in this format: Name of author(s), date and title of the paper – single-spaced in the top left corner of the first page. Number all pages. The text must be single-spaced, with 1 inch margins, and size 11 font (calibri or times new roman).

All sources must be cited in an academically acceptable bibliographic format (e.g., MLA, APA, etc.) and printed on a separate page – after the last page of the text. (The bibliography does not count in the required length of the paper.)
