course assessment
You will hand in an assignment through gradework at the end of the semester individually (28 January 2021, before 23:59hr), in which you write an essay about international law. You can select your own topic if you want to, or pick one of these:
– Trade war between US and China: the end of WTO as we know it?
– The European Union and developing countries: is the trade relation fair?
– Litigation across EU countries in private legal relations: complicated but fair?
– Free trade in the EU: does the goal justifies the means?
I will assess a couple of grading criteria:
1. The essay is written in a concise and academic writing style, in which APA-rules are correctly applied.
2. The legal issues are described and applied correctly and the student refers to relevant legislation and case law to support her claims.
3. The students reflection is of an acceptable quality and he adds value to existing discourse on the matter.
4. The student applies at least four theoretic items that were studied during the course offered and relate to the course materials (e.g. fiscal restrictions in the EU; MEE in the EU; economic free trade models; Brussels 1 in international private law; Rome 1 in international private law; the UN institutions; the WTO most favoured nation principle etc etc).
