Description:
1. Choose an article from a journal, newspaper or magazine that describes an individual, community or global response to a traumatic experience.
2. Analyze the case from a human service, strengths based perspective and describe the following:
a. The Trauma: Explain the Trauma
b. Main Problems/Issues Identification:
c. Brief case summary that includes relevant client demographic,
cultural characteristics, and essential details of the case.
What are the main problems/issues that the person/community/society are now experiencing as a result of this trauma? In other ways, how has the trauma impacted the person/community/society that has been affected by it? If not specifically stated, what do you hypothesize the effects of the trauma might be?
d. Strengths/successes/resources of client or community. Trauma-Informed Analysis: Trauma History of client Analyze from a trauma-informed perspective why this traumatic experience may be having or will have these problematic effects. Include peer review articles to substantiate your case.
e. Two lessons learned by the client and or community(negative beliefs that developed).
f. Client’s feelings (i.e., fear, frustration, sadness, anger, etc.), and examples of how those feelings result in behaviors for the client. Pick two feelings and examples. Trauma-Informed Practice Recommendations: Provide recommendations for a human service professional working with this person/community/society from a trauma-informed practice perspective. For instance…What practice models would you use? Why? How would you implement them? Etc.
g. Refer to Class Readings and/or Other Journal Articles: Cite at least 5 professional sources throughout the paper.
h. Writing Mechanics and Paper Formatting: The paper should adhere to all APA formatting standards. It should be well organized (with an effective introduction, body and conclusion), and well written (free of grammatical and spelling errors).
i. Length – five double spaced pages including references.
