You are required to locate at least ONE recent piece of news report related to youth problems in Hong Kong, and – Use concepts covered (Functionalism, Functionalists’ Theories on Social problem, Merton Strain Theory & Functionalist explanations of youth problems) to evaluate the selected case. – Minimum word count: 750 words

On Writing a Reflection Journal – Unlike a formal academic paper, a reflection journal encourages you to engage in a dialogue with (a) the course materials, (b) yourself, and (c) your lecturer. –

This assignment requires you to write on the social problems covered (or themes covered in that problem) during the semester. For each of these journals, you need to:

a. Demonstrate your understanding of that particular social problem (1/3 of the paper; this part should include a concise and precise summary of the key issues)

b. Critically reflect on the materials through an application of the theoretical materials to an empirical case (2/3 of the paper; this part should contain a brief introduction of the concepts and theories used, details of the empirical case, and an explicit and logical explanation of how the theories apply to it)

c. The journal should end with a concise yet critical reflection on the usefulness and/or limitations of the concepts and theory/theories.

Format: Times New Roman, font size 12, double spacing, margin 2.5cm, and word document – Provide a word count (excluding footnote and reference).
