Using examples from either Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream or both, choose at least two different views of love that are presented. Show how they differ, and comment on whether Shakespeare makes a more consistent case for one view over the other.
As you write and revise, please keep the following in mind:
Your essay’s introduction should include a clearly stated thesis. (The bolded words in each question should help you formulate your thesis.) Subsequent paragraphs should be clearly related to the thesis and provide carefully reasoned support for it.
As you move from paragraph to paragraph, use transitions to help the reader see how the new paragraph builds on and connects to the previous one—and be sure each paragraph’s topic sentence connects to your thesis.
After you’ve written your first draft, go back and make sure every part of the essay is there for a reason. Check the order of your paragraphs. Does it make sense? Are you using topic sentences and transitions effectively?
