Much like the network analysis you completed earlier this term, the situation analysis summarizes internal and external factors associated with an organization. These short reports are meant to be quickly written and quickly distributed, much like this example from the Center for Disease Control

. Another example from the CDC, which can be found here, is an especially good format to follow

. Note the timestamps and the date updated near the head of each document – this is important when there are constant updates.
Situation Analyses come in many different forms, the “5C” and “SWOT

” being the more popular. The SWOT analysis is a basic look at internal strengths (S) and weaknesses (W) as well as external opportunities (O) and threats (T). Although it’s typically applied to businesses, the SWOT is also used to analyze current conditions found in professional practice

Every organization has strengths and weaknesses. It’s important to identify those strengths that an organization or process can build upon. Weaknesses are those areas where an organization or process could use some reinforcement. Opportunities are those external trends and events that could potentially strengthen the subject being analyzed. Threats are, of course, those external factors that present obstacles.
Note: the SWOT analysis is typically the basic analysis that would be conducted and is usually followed up by a longer, more comprehensive report.
Assignment
This is an individual submission.
Using the recommended solution your group provided in the technical report, develop a short situation analysis focusing on strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. You should be doing some routine research to provide any context or evidence necessary to support your analysis. The analysis could be focused on your solution, an organization implementing that solution, or a process associated with that solution – whatever you think would be appropriate. In addition to the links above, here’s another example specific to our class

Use a single image to represent each quadrant of the SWOT model. After you’ve assembled your images, write a brief (100 words or so) analysis – walk us through the images you selected. What does this tell you about the situation? Appropriately cite sources.
Important: Each image must be cited and captioned according to MLA style. Refer to Purdue OWL

Some readers found Harrys final battle with Voldemort a disappointment, and recently, the podcast, MuggleCast debated the subject (see fig. 2).
