After reading about obedience and conformity to social norms, consider ways in which you conform to social norms on a daily basis. Identify at least 8-10 social norms (e.g., standing at an appropriate distance from people, waiting your turn in line, etc.) and violate 2 of these norms. This should occur in a public setting with strangers and DO NOT engage in anything that is illegal, dangerous, or could result in you getting into trouble. We will discuss this more thoroughly in class. After you have violated 2 norms, you will need to write a summary of what happened by answering the following questions: (a) identify each norm and explain what happened, including how you did it and how other people reacted, (b) how did you feel before, during, and after? and (c) did you feel the need to explain yourself or justify your actions?
