In Module 5 you were instructed to access the Virtual Crash Lab application listed as Survival Factors and collect data and information using the tools available in the lab that provided an indication of what took place with respect to survivability and survival factors. You were then asked to export your data and place the raw data into a report to be submitted for grading.
The question you addressed through your observations and data collection was “Does the crash lab provide the clues that allow the student to learn what to look for and how to document the available evidence for subsequent reports?” In other words, does the crash lab allow you to train to become proficient in the tasks an accident investigator must perform to draw conclusions about an accident? This critical aspect will determine if your training system is effective or not. Remember that your primary objective in this assignment was not to train to become a crash investigator, but to critically evaluate the crash lab interface and environment for potential training effectiveness capability by using and evaluating the virtual environment and tools provided.
This activity has two parts: I ALREADY DID PART ONE AND WILL ATTATCH IT TO UPLOADED FILEs
Part 1 was submitted during Module 5. It encompassed the collection and submission of raw data collected while exploring the accident scene.
Part 2 is due for submission by the end Module 6. It will be your actual report that describes the effectiveness of your training system based on principles and evidence. In this part of the activity, you will take your raw data and format it into a report that will support or refute the statement that the crash lab is or is not potentially effective at training individuals on what to look for in terms of survival factors. This is an abbreviated assessment of the capabilities of the Virtual Crash Lab and the potential effectiveness of the simulation to provide information needed by crash investigators to determine what happened and why. The purpose and focus of this assignment is to review the objectives of the simulation and write a report that either supports the notion that the Virtual Crash Lab either 1) is an effective training interface, or 2) is not an effective training interface. It does not matter what position you take, but you must make sure your position is supported by research, concepts, and evidence collected from the crash lab.
The final paper should be formatted using the formatting guidelines of the current APA Manual. It should have an appropriate title page, abstract, body of paper, and reference section. The length of the paper text should not exceed five double spaced pages (not including photos, charts, graphs or illustrations). This means that your written/typed text should not exceed five double spaced pages if you were to delete all photos, charts, graphs, or illustrations.
