Description: The purpose of this Assignment is to provide you with an opportunity to compare the differences
between “Traditional Project Planning” and “Agile Project Planning.”
For your first INDIVIDUAL Traditional Project Planning Assignment, you chose a project that has a clear
goal and a clear solution. This time, you will select a project that has a clear goal; but, the solution is
unclear. With Agile Project Planning, you create a Vision for the Project (Goal), Identify all of the
features the solution will have, determine the minimum solution that is usable for the user (MVP) and
provide a Roadmap that shows you the evolution of the MVP to achieve the Vision (Goal). Due to the
uncertain nature of Agile, the MVP and Roadmap might change based on feedback from the users, but
your Vision should remain consistent. Your initial Vision, MVP and Roadmap will act as a guideline for
your product development team.
The final TEAM Assignment will have you building out a plan for your initial MVP.

Note: For this Assignment, you may build on your original Product or start with a different one

Deliverables
The Vision, MVP and Roadmap Assignment contains the following deliverables:
• Project Name and Description
• Project Vision Statement
• Minimum Viable Product (MVP)
• Roadmap

Project Name and Description: The project name and description should contain enough information so that the reader can clearly
understand the organization’s background, business need, problem, or Opportunity the project
addresses. The description also needs to clearly identify what the project goal is along with a description
of the solutions.

Note: The solution should NOT be clearly understood but you should be presenting the first attempt of a
solution. The description should describe all the features (Now, Next Later) and the MVP (Now).

Product Vision Statement: The Product Vision Statement describes the Product’s future state and what value it brings.
Use the following “Elevator Pitch” format described in class to create your product vision statement.
• For (target customer)
• Who (statement of the need or Opportunity)
• The (product name) is a (product category)
• That (key benefits, compelling reason to buy)
• Unlike (primary competitive alternative)
• Our Product (statement of primary differentiation)

Minimum Viable Product (MVP): The purpose of the MVP is to create a minimum solution to put in the hands of the users to elicit the
initial feedback need to continue building the solution. Depending on the feedback, you may need a new
MVP (Skateboard to Bike) or start adding features to the MVP.
Start by describing what you hope to achieve with the MVP, and then describe the features of the MVP.

Note: Provide three to five features for the MVP.

MVP Template

Feature 3 Name Description
Feature 4 Name Description
Feature 5 Name Description

Roadmap: A product roadmap is a high-level strategic plan that describes the likely development of the Product
over time.
The roadmap should support the Product’s Purpose and Vision and is used to keep
stakeholders aligned.
The roadmap should contain all of your known Product features; these features are the parts described
in the previous section. In addition, include two additional releases “Next and Later”.
