2. After years of suffering from British violations of American neutrality, the United States declared war on Great Britain in 1812. Based on the evidence in Chapter 7, was the war inevitable? Explain.

3. The Hartford Convention was looked upon by many Americans as an act of betrayal in a time of war. Was this a correct assessment of Federalist actions or did the Federalists have good reason to conduct themselves as they did at the Hartford Convention? Explain.
