Washed Down in Blood: Murder on the Schooner Harry A. Berwind. By: NEWKIRK, VANN. North Carolina Historical Review. Jan2014, Vol. 91 Issue 1, p1-29. 29p.

essay should be three to four pages in length (ends on page three), and include an introductory paragraph that identifies the author and subject, a paragraph that explains the author’s main argument/thesis, a paragraph or two that review three examples from the article, and a conclusion paragraph that states your personal evaluation of the article.
Put the author and title on the top of the first page. Double space, standard margins, 12pt font. You do not need to footnote any quotations.
These essays should be academic and formal in tone and style.
You do not need to summarize the entire article. Your goal is to explain what the authors are trying to argue, how they do it, what examples they yse, and a brieg statement of what you thought of it(not if it was interesting or boring but whether or not you think the historian accomplished her or his goal–was it logical, incomplete, well-written, significant, etc.)
(This came straight from my rubric, no citations are needed simply the article and the author, you can find the article online)
