Your assignment this week is to watch a short documentary about Shelter, choreographed by Jawole, and write a review/response to GRACE. PLEASE do the readings, and take notes while you watch that dance IF you can, please try to watch these works undistracted.
Post your responses here to the readings and to the dance. You can do that together or separately. Do the best you can to incorporate description (what you look at) interpretation (what you see), analysis (what makes you see that), and judgment (what you think/feel).
While youre watching GRACE, in addition to the story, think about the following:
The first reading, from Fifty Contemporary Choreographers, is a nice introduction to the choreographer, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, and her work. The second is a powerful speech she gave in 1990 that (sadly) could still be given today. Read this, and reflect (posted on Blackboard)
