Please consider when writing that as trauma enters the therapy room whether you plan on specializing in trauma or not. Sitting with people, hearing their most challenging and sometimes horrific experiences, WILL have an affect on you. Those that do not have preventative and purposeful actions to counterbalance the impact of the work can have very negative effects, mental health issues, poor practice, shifts in worldview, and walking away from the field.
