Subject: Incident Name: Fire

It is informed
that a fire incident took place on 15 August 2018 in a textile factory located
at Steet #5, Malir city Karachi, Pakistan. It is a two-story building where 200
employees are working. The initial report says that the fire has covered the
whole building, and due to suffocation, 80 people have lost their lives, and
fifty people are injured who have been shifted to the nearby hospital by rescue
1122. The fire was caught due to a short
circuit on the 2nd floor. The fire
brigade team has reached the spot and started to control the fire.
The civil defense
team and other civil society members are also engaged in rescue services.
However, the fire is of category three and requires additional resources and
expertise. The City administration has imposed emergencies in hospitals.
The initial investigation
reveals that there were no emergency exits on the 2nd floor, due to which more
deaths have been reported. With the help of district administration and civil
defense, the rescue team is engaged in rescuing the people and control over the
fire. It is further requested to send more fire bridge teams.
