This week we looked at underlying principles of ethical decisions and the impact Ethical Codes have on healthcare organizations and their employees. You have been tasked with designing a presentation for a healthcare organization about the impact of Ethical Codes in a particular situation. Choose one of the following scenarios:
A healthcare employee is billing for procedures not performed.
A healthcare employee is failing to clock in and out appropriately, committing time theft.
Do NOT choose both scenarios.
Be sure to address the following in your presentation:
What applicable Ethical Code and provision would apply to this scenario.
Any ethical principles that are being violated.
Where the employee’s ethical decision- making failed.
How an organizational code of ethics could prevent this problem from occurring.
