What are potential problems or loopholes that could come up with your amendment, and how would you address those?

Essay #4 – Constitutional Amendment
For this essay you will rely on what we’ve discussed on the U.S. Political System to
propose a constitutional amendment aimed at addressing a problem that you feel
needs to be addressed/solved.
1. Introduce the main problem you are aiming to solve, then explain what your
amendment does as your opening “thesis.” The idea is that your proposed amendment
addresses a problem that you feel exists within the U.S. government & political system,
so make sure you identify that problem, give some details and at least a source showing
why this is a problem, then finish this intro section with what your amendment is, kind of
like a thesis statement introducing the amendment.
2. Explain why this problem you are trying to “fix” is so important to you. By
indicating this is the amendment you would propose, you are showing the reader that the
problem you want to address/solve is the most important challenge to you. So in this
section make sure to use sources to support why this is a such a big problem, what can
happen it goes unsolved, maybe even point to other countries if they have (or have had)
the same or similar issues.
3. A new amendment would need to be proposed by the national government and
ratified by the state governments. What do you think will be some of the challenges to
your amendment getting proposed and ratified? Write about how controversial your
proposed amendment may be, and what may need to be done politically to convince those
with the final say to support it. Show that you understand the amendment process and try
to be creative of how you would “sell” the amendment to the stakeholders.
4. What are potential problems or loopholes that could come up with your
amendment, and how would you address those? Sometimes amendments are good in
theory (good intentions) but without proper enforcement by the executive, interpretation
by the courts, or legislation from Congress to really put it into practice, the amendment
may be rendered limited. What issues or loopholes do you foresee could come up with
your amendment, and how you would imagine those could be avoided or sidestepped?

This essay must be AT LEAST 4 pages of content and use at least 4 sources. You
will need a works cited page APART from the minimum 4 pages of content as well.
You should only write this in 12 size font Times New Roman and make it double
spaced. You do NOT need a title page or abstract. You must cite sources in APA
style
