What are some ways we might challenge our implicit biases in everyday life?

For this assignment, we will take an implicit bias test. This is to demonstrate that despite our own perceived perceptions about ourselves, we may still have subconscious biases. In other words, this is to illustrate that implicit biases are just that – not intentional biases that we may possess.

First, you will need to go to the Harvard Implicit Bias test and take one of the race or ethnicity tests. This includes the following tests you can select from for this assignment: Arab-Muslim, Skin-tone, Asian, Race, or Native. If you decide to take a different implicit bias test it will be for your knowledge only. Please note, you will need to perform this test on a computer/laptop.

Once you’ve completed the implicit bias test, you will answer the following questions in approximately 250 words:

1. Which test did you select?

2. Did your results surprise you?

3. Where do you think implicit attitudes come from?

4. What are some ways we might challenge our implicit biases in everyday life?

5. What are some limitations of an implicit bias test?
