In realistic theater, everything that happens onstage is made to resemble observable, everyday reality. When realism was first born, many people reacted strongly because it made them think about their own lives and they realized they weren’t alone in their situation, whether it be in a bad marriage or a bad job. Think about your own lives and community. What are suggestions for other topics that would be most effectively treated in realistic terms on-stage? Are there parts of life that might be difficult or discomforting to present realistically? Why?

Plays and Musicals have been based on novels for many years. However, in recent years, Broadway has been overwhelmed with shows based on well-known films. For example, The Lion King, Once, Spiderman, and The Adams Family. Discuss the pros (positive effects) and cons (negative effects) of this fact.
