Part 1: What are the basic outlines of how this person sees the world? In other words, what are the connections between the economy, society, culture, government, land etc? How is the author trying to convince us to understand the world in a certain way? Is this person optimistic or pessimistic about the world? Why or why not? This is where I want to see the key overview of what the person wrote about and why.
Part 2: How are the person’s ideas and views of the world influenced by the time when they are alive? What are the key economic, political, social and cultural issues of the time period?
Part 3: How are this person’s ideas still applicable in the present? Are the concerns of the author still an important part of society today? If so, how? In other words, how do we see this person’s ideas used, discussed, or perhaps even misconstrued?
