1. Programming for Female Offenders (Adult or Youth)

Provide a thorough description and analysis of at least 6 specific programs available in Alberta and/or Canada for female offenders (adult or youth). These are programs that are offered in the prisons (federal or provincial) or in the community.
Examples you might wish to consider are:
· Mother-child programs
· Programs for survivors of abuse and trauma
· Literacy programs
· Cognitive skills
· Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
· Programs for Indigenous women or girls
· Women Offender Substance Abuse programming
· Parenting skills
· Lifeskills
· Social Integration program for women
· Education and employability programs
· Private home placements
· Community services
In your overview you must address the following questions:
· Provide a description of the program, including the where it is offered, how long it lasts, how the offenders become involved in the program, the program structure, measurements of success and credibility.
· What are the benefits and drawbacks of the program?
· How could the program be improved?
· How is the program viewed by the offenders? How is it viewed by the staff working at the correctional agency/institution? How does the public view the program?
· How effective is the program, and how is that effectiveness assessed?
You are to use a minimum of 5 print-based and/or online sources for this section of the assignment. These should be scholarly/academic books or journals and/or professional sources. To replace one of your written sources you can interview staff working in or managing programs that deal with programs you have selected (cite as a personal communication). Program faculty may be able to assist with names and contact information. Proper APA referencing is required.
