Case Study Assessment instructions:
Read the following case studies below AND choose ONE (these will be posted in Week 3 after you have had your initial inputs on the module) and then write an analytical account which addresses the bullet points listed below. This applies to whichever case study you choose. In writing your account, please note the following:
You DO NOT have to offer a formal introduction and conclusion for this assessment – it doesnt add anything to this type of assessment so it would be advisable not to bother…That said if you insist you want to do one the 300 words for each (600 words in total) is more than sufficient word count. You will not gain any additional marks for including an introduction or conclusion.
You might choose to use each bullet point as a heading and write approximately 500-600 words or so under each heading.
Although this is not an essay/assignment, your observations should still be supported by evidence from your reading on this subject and appropriate referencing, adhering to the cite them right system is required.
A failure to reference properly can lead to allegations of academic offences such as plagiarism.
A reference list is still required to be included at the end of your work.Try to avoid the tendency to simply repeat the case study information in your discussion. The marker is familiar with the case study. It is your discussion and understanding of the developments in understanding and responses to this issue which are important.
In responding to this task you should cover all of the module learning outcomes. The module learning outcomes are listed on the Blackboard module shell.
Do NOT reference or cite the case study material (you may refer to examples but are NOT required to formally cite any of it – regard the case study as a very long assessment question)
Your Reference list is NOT included in your word count.
No footnotes, diagrams or appendices are to be used
Choose ONE case study only
The Case Studies will not be attached until we have undertaken the introductory input to the Module
Do NOT reference/cite the case study
Do NOT refer to more than ONE case study
You might (in order to aid structure of your work) find it useful to use the following (or similar) as sub-headings in your work. If you do this please (this is optional if you feel you need it) be mindful that the words used in sub headings is included in the word count.
Drawing upon your reading for the module:
Utilising different models of explanation and theoretical ideas, discuss the types of abuse which are present in the case study that you have chosen
Critically assess the risk of harm.
What are the opportunities for protection, support and intervention in this case study?
What are the challenges of inter-agency working in this context and how might they be resolved?
