Organizational Analysis Signature Work
SB 420 is a UC Capstone Course on the topic of Strategic Management. In this course you will
prepare a Signature Work (SW) that is a culmination and summation of the knowledge gained
during your university experience. Your SW will enable you to conduct detailed research and to
write an organizational analysis of a publicly traded company through the lens of strategic
management.
This paper must be an original piece of work – original to you, to the class, and to the school. Do
NOT focus on copying information about the company but provide strategic analysis of the
company.
This 12–16 page SW, excluding cover page, references, and appendices must be double-spaced,
Times New Roman, 12- point font. It should be your finest work.
All submissions must follow American Psychological Association (APA) writing style
guidelines, which is the style of business.
• Refer to QU Library Resources, APA writing style, 7th Edition – Citing Sources (Bernhard
Library) before you begin this paper: https://libraryguides.quinnipiac.edu/APA7th
o Ms. Janet Valeski, Business Research Librarian, is available at the below link
o Business Research Guide: https://libraryguides.quinnipiac.edu/business
If you do not cite your sources, then your paper will be considered plagiarized and will be
returned to you with a grade of 0. For knowledge that you or ‘the common man’ would not
know, you need to cite the source where you found the information or else it is plagiarism.
You must give credit to the people who gathered information and statistics before you. Your
citations & works cited section must be properly formatted according to APA writing style
guidelines (see above link). Your paper must include in-text citations within the paper as well as
a works cited section at the end of the paper.
Note: Do not only utilize the articles recommended on the website of the company that you have
chosen to research. If you do, then your research will be biased.
Choice of Company – the professor must approve the company you will analyze. It must be
publicly traded on a US stock exchange to find enough information on the company. It is your
responsibility to determine if the organization is publicly traded before submitting your choice of
company.
Part 1: Introduction to the Company and Strategy

• Briefly describe the industry and the top 2-3 major competitors.
• Discuss the political, economic, sociocultural, technological, and legal (PESTLE)
environment facing the industry in which the firm operates
• Analyze the industry using Michael Porters Five Forces Framework (You may use a
