This approximately three page paper will report your findings of the structure and policies of a Human Services agency of your choice that has something to do with the Child Welfare System. You can find a list of human service agencies on-line by looking them up by category and location. Some examples of an agency would be those that provide services such as: drug and alcohol, mental health, adoption, foster care, homelessness, immigration services, etc. Make sure that the agency specializes in any area of child welfare. It could be a private or public agency, which will be part of your exploration of how the agency works. You will also observe online aspects of the agency according to the guidelines below, so that you can write a comprehensive paper.

The following points are a guideline for writing up your interview.
Agency Name and Contact Information
Population they serve
Their mission statement (influences their policies)
An organizational chart (departments, department heads and workers)
The services they provide
The cost of their services
Requirement for client to receive services (ex. Insurance, Medicaid, low income, single parent, etc.)
How many staff do they employ
What are the credentials of the staff – the person you are interviewing
How is the agency funded: Does the agency receive any grant, county, state or federal funding (determines a public or private agency).
Are there any issues that would force termination of services and what are they?
How long have they provided community services?
Any other pertinent information you would like to know about the agency.
