What are the implications for studying, utilizing time in class, having phones in a classroom

Ability to multi-task and swap attention.

To summarize the procedure:
Time yourself saying the numbers 1-26 as quickly and as accurately as possible
Time yourself saying the letters A-Z as quickly and as accurately as possible
Make sure to explain why multitasking is an important topic to study given today’s learning environments!
Give some background on multi-tasking through doing a *brief* literature review. Three academic, peer-reviewed papers cited here. (Two are attached) Utilize them in the introduction.
(Monsell is more of a review article to be used to discuss task-switching, and Hembrooke & Gay is an empirical study you can use to illustrate why this issue is important for students.)
Summarize the research question and results briefly, then analyze your study. What did we learn about cognition from doing this? What did we learn about attention? What are the implications for studying, utilizing time in class, having phones in a classroom, etc.?
Include a bit about future directions and limitations. What problems are there with the current study design? Is this a “fair” comparison of conditions?
It’s likely that your discussion will be fairly brief, that’s fine. Quality > quantity.
