I think you could look at external factors such as family, social structure, culture, etc., and then examine internal factors such as those conditions related to the LAUSD. Those factors might include student-teacher ratios, teacher qualifications, teacher gender/race/ethnic group, school funding, access to extracurricular activities, etc. I think you could make a great contribution to the LAUSD if you were to come up with those factors that most influence the differences in achievement.
