Before starting Activity 4. memo your thoughts regarding the
following prompts:
What is (and is not) a synthesis of the literature?
How do you plan to use the Review Matrix to critically
evaluate your literature?
What are the Rules of Rows and Columns and how is each rule
applied to the Review Matrix?
What are the different sections you will write in a
synthesis of the literature?
Describe several ways you can adapt the PRISMA Flowchart to
show how you might track the number of documents from the beginning to the end
of your review.
Exercise #1: Build the synthesis folder. Using the advice
from the preparatory reading, organize and populate your synthesis folder.
Exercise #2: Plan, plan, plan! Using the advice from the
preparatory reading, use the Rules of Rows and Columns to begin planning your
synthesis of the literature!
Exercise #3: Draft! Write A
Synthesis of the Literature, draft a 20-page miniature literature
review citing at least 20 sources from the Review Matrix.
Revise the PRISMA Flowchart. Revise the PRISMA flowchart
while engaging in this activity.
Perform the APA Check. Use the APA 7 Checklist to ensure the
formatting of the mini-literature review. Remember to check each item in the
list and provide Editing, Changes, and Revision Notes within the APA 7
Checklist.
