What are the specific research questions or hypotheses you have for the current study?

You will be completing a field project to demonstrate your understanding and application of the material you’ve learned in the class. You can read the full description of this project on the Week 7: Field Project Description page. The current assignment, the project proposal, will include 4 PowerPoint slides and will review the rationale (Introduction), proposed methods (Methods), materials, and references.
Slide 1: Introduction. Why is this research being completed? Your answer to this question will be the introduction section of your final paper. You will rely on at least 4 academic (from peer-reviewed or trusted) sources to describe why your research study is being done. You will need to have in-text citations to these references within this slide. This is typically termed a rationale. In it, the writer’s job is to explain to the reader why the current research adds to the field. Make sure to use your references to tell the reader the current state of the research, while leading naturally to your research questions or hypotheses.
List the research questions/hypotheses? What are the specific research questions or hypotheses you have for the current study? You can have either. The difference is that a hypothesis is a specific guess while a research question doesn’t specify which way the data will go; it is just a statement of inquiry. For example, a hypothesis could state that 4th graders will perform better on measures of pie-eating than 3rd graders whereas a research question would address it as follows: The data will be examined to see who performs better in pie-eating, 4th or 3rd graders?
You can extend this to 2 slides if necessary; please label both “Introduction”.
Slide 2. What will you be doing? What is the research design? Be specific about the choices you are making with design: What exactly will you be doing? How many sources/participants will you be utilizing?
Slide 3. Chart or Survey. Are you using any charts that you can attach for feedback? Remember you should seek this feedback before you actually begin collecting data, so the chart should only have column labels. If you are using a survey, make sure to attach it for feedback.
Slide 4. References. Be sure to list at least 4 academic (peer-reviewed) resources using APA Style. You must have an in-text citation for each and every reference listed on this slide AND you must have a reference listed for each and every in-text citation you include in your presentation.
