What are your thoughts on having an integration method such as this from the perspective of the tenured employee and the new team members?

I appreciate the breakfast/lunch offering to get to know new folks. It is
very important to have the socialization aspect addressed for new
employees.
Many companies do this through having a buddy system and introducing new people
to a variety of team members.

In a previous operation I would conduct orientation over a multi-day period.
During this time, they spend a few hours each day in the classroom followed by
a few hours on the production floor. Along with this, I have a variety of
employees, some managers and some peers to this new employee, present various
training content to the new folks.

What are your thoughts on having an integration method such as this from the
perspective of the tenured employee and the new team
members?
