For this assignment follow the specific scenario below executing actual live procedures to perform analysis on the metadata of an image associated with the suspect, please follow the directions below:
Internet access and the below listed software program are required for this project:
To Obtain Required Files for Analysis:
Before using the exiftool, please read the exiftool instructional document from the “Digital Investigations” section of the School of Information Technology’s LibGuide.
From the “Digital Investigations” section of the School of Information Technology’s LibGuide download the two zipped files named Exiftool Pictures 1 and Exiftool Pictures 2.
Unzip (extract) the two downloaded Exiftool Picture files.
Create a folder on your desktop called ExifTool Pictures.
Move the unzipped files into the folder you created.
To Obtain Required Software
Download the Exiftool Installation Guide from the “Digital Investigations” section of the School of Information Technology’s LibGuide.
Download the Exiftool (-k) application at: https://exiftool.org/
Once downloaded, unzip (extract) the application and put the exiftool on your desktop
To Use the Exiftool:
Drop the ExifTool Pictures folder you created and added files to, over the Exiftool program and review the results
Screenshots are provided in the Exiftool Installation Guide to help you navigate.
