I have posted an article in “Course Content” from Bloomberg News “Sunday Strategist: More CEOs Should Have Seen This Coming.” The article discusses those companies whose scanning of the external environment led them to think about and plan for unexpected events in the external environment, such as this pandemic.
1. Do you agree with the headline of the article that more CEO’s should have seen this coming? Why or why not?
2. What components of the external environment, either the general environment or the industry environment do you think your employer tends to pay the most attention to? Why or why not?
3. Do you think your company should have been better prepared for a pandemic? Why or why not? Do you think there are aspects of the external environment that are not getting sufficient attention? What are they and why?
Having thought about those questions and summarized your responses, think about a question that you would like to ask your colleagues about any of the models presented in Chapter 3 of the book.
Remember that in addition to your answer to my questions above, and a question for your colleagues, you will also have to reply to the posts of two of your colleagues. You can post the Bloomberg article, your textbook or any additional information you found as your reference.
The book information for Chapter 3 is below:
